We're looking for an experienced Data Insights Manager to join our growing operations team.

Reports To: Head of Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning and Sr. Operations Manager

Contract type: Permanent 
Working hours: Full time - 35 hours per week
Salary Grade: £35,000
Location: 28 Commercial Street London, E1 6LS (Remote working during covid and available after)

Introduction

Debt Free London is London’s free face-to-face debt advice service helping over 24,000 Londoners with their debt and money problems each year. Our trained and accredited advisors are based across 21 partner charities and can help with all types of money worries from rent and council tax arrears to credit card and catalogue debt. We can work with clients to prioritise their bills & debts, helping them to write letters and advocating on their behalf.

The Debt Free London partnership is led by Toynbee Hall, the employer for this role, a charity where people come for excellent local services and where they can share ideas and experience, gather information and knowledge that we use together to take action to change lives and eradicate poverty. Our programmes include free advice services, financial inclusion services, wellbeing services, including work with older people and community learning services supporting young people and new migrants.

Job Purpose

  1. Manage and develop datasets and databases for Debt Free London (DFL), Toynbee Hall’s London-wide Debt Advice Partnership and helping to promote good practice and sector-wide learning through strong reporting and communications.
  2. Analyse and proactively communicate data, changes and trends, ensuring all outputs are clear and actionable for key stakeholders.
  3. Ensure the ongoing maintenance, design and development of all internal systems, CRMs, and training capture the correct data in order to deliver against KPIs.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  1. Manage and continue to develop all databases and CRMs to meet the needs of the organisation.

    • Ensure the accuracy, integrity and quality of data is always upheld

    • Work closely with developers as key point of contact to resolve any system issues

    • Produce accurate and timely statistical returns upon request

    • Support all CRM projects, including software updates and upgrades and data cleanses

    • Maintain consistency across the organisation including data migration report anomalies

    • Develop process improvements and efficiencies

    • Be aware of and comply on an ongoing basis with the rules and requirements of confidentiality, data protection, data sharing and any other legal/regulatory/risk management frameworks

  2. Contribute to team understanding and use of all systems.
    This includes:

    • Produce training guides and deliver individual or group training as needed

    • Support staff to design reports for service and outcomes reporting as well as service monitoring and evaluation

    • Work with Operations and Learning team to produce and develop evidence-based issues and trends to inform organisational strategy and contribute to objectives

  3. Work closely with key stakeholders to ensure outputs are clear and actionable.
    This includes:

    • Analyse and interpret data and communicate it in clear, digestible and useful ways

    • Responsible for creating meaningful analysis and developing an array of reports and compelling communications to support the organisations’ understanding of its clients

    • Think creatively about how to use the data we have, how to collect the data we want, and how best to leverage it in service of our clients and community members

    • Highlight and present new trends and changes in an accessible way

  4. Contribute to team

    • Work to an agreed work-plan, meeting targets and milestones

    • Prioritise and manage your own workload

    • Be an active member of the team, identifying opportunities for your own development

    • Compliance with Toynbee Hall policies and procedures, including health and safety

    • Demonstrate financial efficiency and value for money throughout work

      quality standards and good practice

    • Undertake additional tasks as defined by Head of Debt Free London

Person specification

Essential attributes and behaviours:

  • Strong analytical and data interpretation skills with experience in data analysis, data cleaning, data integrity, research, monitoring and evaluation.

  • Experience in managing and communicating data to various stakeholders

  • Experience using data visualisation tools and packages such as Tableau, Microsoft Power BI

  • Experience of CRM development and update roll out

  • Working knowledge of general IT and systems for both Mac & PCs

  • Experience of working with large and complex data sets

  • Presentation, design and communication skills - particularly strong in presenting complex data and analytical findings to non-technical audiences

  • Good team worker, experience of showing own initiative and self-manage, and ability to manage multiple tasks

  • Ability to quickly learn the basics of unfamiliar software systems, given an appropriate level of training

  • Self-motivated, with ability to manage and follow up on multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Excellent communication skills, with demonstrated ability to develop good work relationships with a variety of people within an organisation and external stakeholders

  • Strong skills and experience of using Microsoft Office applications in particular Excel

  • Flexible approach to work and the ability to deliver under tight deadlines

  • Understanding of and commitment to Toynbee Hall’s values and equal opportunities policies

Desirable knowledge and experience:

  • Experience and knowledge of Geography Information Systems (GIS) and statistical analysis tools

  • Experience working with Advice Pro

  • Experience in the non-profit/charity sector
